Setting The Stage For A Magical Experience
On October 19-21, 2018, Calgary will set the stage for a magical experience. Celebrity dance personality Jean-Marc Généreux joins forces with Calgary production companies Dancesport MD and Salsa Rica Productions for a red carpet weekend event at the elegant Hyatt Regency Calgary. The Grand Prix Showcase Gala features dancers from So You Think You Can Dance, top ballet and contemporary companies, and many more artists. Each evening concludes with an exciting after party. Dancesport Competitions featuring Canada's best dancers, and Celebrity Dance Workshops will make for a weekend you won't want to miss.
Dancesport Competition
Experience the excitement and glamour of ballroom dancing featuring some of Canada's top Dancesport athletes. A full range of competition categories will be offered in both the amateur and pro-am divisions. We are proud to announce that we will be hosting the Rocky Mountain Professional Canadian Championships in Latin, Ballroom, Rhytm and Smooth, and new this year, the Rocky Mountain Dancesport Grand Prix Professional Showdance Championship.
Gala Showcase
The Grand Prix Gala Showcase features specially selected shows by the evening's champions, world-class and local artists who will amaze your eyes and inspire your heart. Witness an intense competition and be mesmerized by the spectacular performances.
After Party
When the show finishes, the party begins! Take over the dance floor with our hot lineup of DJs. Friday night Fiesta Party includes a Salsa Bachata and Latino Mix Room, and our popular Milonga Tango Room.
Saturday night features a Salsa Bachata and Latino Mix room and our Dancesport after party room featuring your favourite social dance music by DJ Gilles direct from Montreal.
Celebrity Workshops
Experience the opportunity of having the world's best coaches, performers, and judges offer their knowledge and expertise in various dance styles. Don't miss this rare opportunity to enjoy a variety of workshops open to the public and all dance levels from newcomer to professional master's classes. New this year! Two days of workshops in a variety of styles including Salsa, Bachata, Latin, Ballroom, and so much more!
Event Organizers
Jean-Marc Généreux & France Mousseau
Jean-Marc Généreux and France Mousseau are among the most respected dancesport professionals in the World. They have been finalists at all of the major dancesport competitions, including Blackpool, the World Ten-Dance Championships and are ten-time Canadian Professional Latin Champions. They judge and train many of the World’s top dancers today. Jean-Marc and France have worked for 6 years as choreographers on So You Think You Can Dance in the United States and Canada, where Jean-Marc is a permanent judge, and an audience favourite on the panel. Jean-Marc has appeared in movies with Richard Gere, Jennifer Lopez, and Vanessa Williams, and has run successful dancesport events for years. Jean-Marc and France are proud to bring their experience and vision to the Rocky Mountain Dancesport Grand Prix in Calgary.
Martin & Diana Lefebvre
Martin and Diana Lefebvre are two of Canada’s top dancesport trainers. Together they represented Canada on the professional latin circuit for six years and in 2003 were Canada’s representatives at the World Professional Latin Championships in Innsbruck, Austria. Martin, a two time Canadian and North American Amateur Latin Champion and Diana, a Canadian Professional Ten-Dance Finalist, are largely responsible for facilitating Alberta’s booming ballroom scene. After starting Alberta’s first dancesport program in 1999, four of their couples have been invited to be Canada’s representatives at various World Championships. A most recent highlight is of course five of their dancers making it to the finals in So You Think You Can Dance Canada with Anthony Grafton making it to the Top 18 in Season 2 and Julia Harnett in Season 3.
In 2006, after nine years, Martin and Diana sold their studio, got married and in 2008 welcomed the birth of their baby girl Bianca.They now manage their time running their Calgary-based competitive program and Diana’s award winning fitness company BURLESQUERCISE.

Kelly Lannan & Eric Caty
Eric and Kelly are the owners of Alberta Dancesport – Calgary's best place to dance, the directors of Salsa Rica Productions, and the organisers of the Calgary International Salsa Congress, and the Rocky Mountain Dancesport Grand Prix.
Eric and Kelly are proud to be choreographers on So You Think You Can Dance Canada, and to represent Canada at the World Professional Salsa Championships. Eric and Kelly still perform and teach on the international salsa circut and judge many events including the Global Salsa Championships at the World Salsa Summit.
